This is what I said at the ceremony in Biarritz.
"I am Bill. The brother of Jill and uncle to Lindsey and her sisters Julie & Georgie and brother Rick.
Lindsey was born in 1965.She had a happy childhood but latterly was unhappy at school because of her parents divorce.
Upon leaving school, she attended a college to learn to cook. She graduated and then went to cook at a boys preparatory school in Oxford for about 100 boys. Needless to say, they loved her.
Her next step was to cook at a smart restaurant in Cheshire where she excelled.
Travel came next. She went to Australia and went all over the country. She stayed with old friends in Adelaide who were very fond of her, always asking after her.
At about the time of her return to England in 1987, I had a crisis in my life. I got divorced and was granted custody of my two sons, Howard aged 8 and Carlo aged 6. I really did not know I was to cope. Lindsey was my saviour. She helped me by packing up my old house and moving us into a new one. She helped helped me by looking after the boys with much love.
The boys and I went on our annual holiday to Trearddur Bay in Anglesey and Lindsey came with us to look agfter them. It was there that she met Colin. What a lovely and loving couple they became
Howard and Carlo are very very sorry that they cannot be here today and join me in thanking Lindsey very much for all that she did for us."
